Kelsey has a Master of Science in Genetic Counselling from the University of British Columbia. She has worked previously in clinical and research genetic counselling settings. Kelsey has managed research projects at the University of British Columbia for over 10 years. She joined the team in May 2025 as the Lab Manager (currently covering for Kira McNamee).

Bozena Zdaniuk, PhD

Research Associate
Bozena has a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh (1999), a postdoc from Carnegie Mellon university, and she has held multiple roles as a data analyst, methodologist, research associate, and writer. She is particularly strong at aggregating complex sets of data into usable units for analysis, and she has ushered several projects through to completion and knowledge translation. Working on this team gives her opportunity to pursue her ongoing interest in female sexuality research.

Kaku Lema, MBA

Knowledge Mobilization Manager (SHAPE Hub)
Kaku is the Knowledge Mobilization Manager for the SHAPE Hub, a pan-Canadian initiative focused on addressing barriers to evidence-based information and treatment for sexual difficulties and genito-pelvic pain that affect women and gender-diverse people. In this role, Kaku facilitates the exchange and co-creation of knowledge among researchers, healthcare providers, and patients, working to ensure that information on these conditions is accessible, inclusive, and impactful. She holds a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Human Geography from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Canada and a Master of Business Administration in Project Management from Università degli studi Guglielmo Marconi, Rome Italy.

Jocelyn Brady, MPH

Knowledge Mobilization Coordinator (SHAPE Hub)
Jocelyn is a Knowledge Mobilization Coordinator for the SHAPE Hub a pan-Canadian initiative focused on addressing barriers to evidence-based information and treatment for sexual difficulties and genito-pelvic pain affecting women and gender-diverse people. She holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) from the University of Calgary and a Master of Public Health from the University of British Columbia. Her research background and interest in knowledge mobilization are grounded in qualitative and mixed methods approaches that prioritize community partnership and translating evidence into action.

Julianna Mazur

Social Media Assistant
Julianna Mazur is a fourth-year Bachelor of Science student at UBC, majoring in Chemistry, Statistics, and Life Sciences, with a minor in Commerce. She serves as the lab’s Social Media Assistant, where she manages its presence on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Julianna is passionate about knowledge translation and is committed to making complex scientific research accessible and engaging. Her role in the lab allows her to merge her communication skills with her academic background, fostering connections between the lab’s work and the broader community.

Piper Slonecker

Study Coordinator
Piper has a Bachelor of Arts in Honours Psychology from the University of British Columbia (2025). Her research interests include sexual wellness, interpersonal relationships, women’s health, stress, mood disorders, and intervention-based research. She joined the lab as an honours student in 2023, and is currently the coordinator for eSense-Cancer, which aims to adapt eSense to address sexual difficulties in gynecologic cancer survivors.
