Investigating Sexual Dysfunction and Genitourinary Syndrome, and Help-Seeking Trajectories in Menopause
Research Purpose:
Midlife women experience a variety of health concerns that are specific to their age, one of which is menopause. Although many women can experience significant discomfort and negative impact to their daily lives, research on menopause and its impact remains limited. The aim of this study is to identify the severity of sexual concerns and genitourinary syndrome of menopause (e.g., vaginal dryness, pain during sex, chronic urinary tract infections, incontinence) in midlife women, the health-seeking experiences and barriers to treat such symptoms, and the satisfaction of care received. We hope that this knowledge will lead to better treatments to help women who experience significant discomfort due to menopause, as well to improve health care coverage of midlife women in Canada.
